PAINT   [top]

Latex-based paint:  Remove lid and place in trash.  Let the contents of the can air dry in your garage or basement.  Make sure the open can is out of the reach of children or little critters.  In a matter of days, the liquid paint will harden.  When this happens, the can should be placed at the curb as trash.  Do not bag or put the lid back on.  Waste Management needs to be able to see that there is no liquid left in the can (contents are completely dry) before they pick it up for trash.

Oil-based paint:  To speed the drying of oil-based paint, you can add cat box filler, shredded newspaper or any other material that will absorb the liquid.  These materials will absorb the paint, dry and can be disposed of in your regular trash.  The can with the lid off can then be placed at the curb as trash.  Please allow space for expansion of products as they absorb.
