Uniform Construction Code Takes Effect July 6, 2004

Millcreek Township will begin administering and enforcing the Uniform Construction Code on July 6, 2004.  The deadline for Pennsylvania municipalities to take action was July 8, 2004.

The Pennsylvania General Assembly adopted the Pennsylvania Construction Code to establish uniform standards governing construction.  The General Assembly has required that municipalities decide either to enforce the UCC or not to enforce the UCC, but the uniform standards apply either way.

This section includes a variety of information that should help in understanding what the Uniform Construction Code is, how it will be administered and the process that has led to the first inter-municipal approach to what, after all, is intended as a uniform set of construction standards.
