TOWNSHIP ORDINANCES

An ordinance is a local law, similar to laws (statutes) passed by Congress and the Pennsylvania legislature.

In an average year, Millcreek’s Board of Supervisors adopts 15-20 ordinances.  Many of these confirm approvals of property owners’petitions to rezone their properties or establish regulations for stop signs, speed limits and parking restrictions.  When the Board of Supervisors agrees to vacate a public street, which means giving up the right to build a street in a subdivision where a street was not built by the developer years ago, this is confirmed by an ordinance and is recorded.  Less routine are ordinances that establish regulations.

Each year, some of the new ordinances either establish or restate regulations that affect all or some residents and property owners.  Major ordinances enacted in recent years include:
