Regular Meeting                                                                                                                         August 26, 2008

 

 

The regular meeting of the Millcreek Township Board of Supervisors was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Chairman McGrath in the Assembly Room of the Millcreek Township Municipal Building.  Present were Gerald Wolf, Lawrence Curtis, Brian McGrath, Joseph Kujawa, Evan Adair, Esq., and Phyllis Vollbrecht.  Absent were Engineer Morris and Chief Andrews.

 

Following the Pledge to the Flag, Chairman McGrath called for public comment on agenda items other than development or rezoning applications.  No comments were received.

 

It was moved by Mr. Kujawa and seconded by Mr. Curtis to approve the August 19, 2008 minutes.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

It was moved by Mr. Curtis and seconded by Mr. Kujawa to approve payment of the weekly General Fund bills in the amount of $711,615.07.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

It was moved by Mr. Kujawa, seconded by Mr. Curtis, to refer the following petition requesting a change in zoning classification to the Planning Commission for consideration:

 

RAI Management, LLC, for property located at 2243 Edinboro Road, now zoned Agriculture District, asking for a change of classification to
“A” Business District.

 

Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

It was requested by Chief Andrews to authorize payroll deductions for 23 police officers for new firearms they wish to purchase.  It was moved by Mr. Curtis and seconded by Mr. Kujawa to approve this request.  Chairman McGrath called for public comment on the matter; none was received.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

On the recommendation of Chief Andrews, it was moved by Mr. Curtis and seconded by Mr. Kujawa that Cpls. Donald Kucenski and Timothy Fallon be permitted to attend a “Crime Scene Fingerprints” seminar on September 3, 4, and 5, 2008 in Harrrisburg, PA.  Travel will be by department vehicle.  Chairman McGrath called for public comment on the matter; none was received.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

It was recommended by Chief Andrews, moved by Mr. Curtis and seconded by Mr. Kujawa that Lt. Michael Tesore and Mr. Curtis be permitted to attend a Penn Prime Risk Management seminar at Penn State University on September 18 and 19, 2008.  Travel will be by department vehicle and Mr. Curtis’ private vehicle.  Meals and lodging expenses will be involved.  Chairman McGrath called for public comment on the matter; none was received.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

It was moved by Mr. Curtis and seconded by Mr. Kujawa that the West Ridge Fire Police be permitted to provide assistance with pedestrian traffic crossing at Brown’s Farm on August 30, 2008 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on October 18, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for McDowell Cross Country meets.  Chairman McGrath called for public comment on the matter; none was received.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

It was recommended by Parks and Recreation Director James Sperry, moved by Mr. McGrath and seconded by Mr. Curtis to approve the 2008 fall staff:

Chairman McGrath called for public comment on the matter; none was received.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

It was moved by Mr. McGrath and seconded by Mr. Kujawa to approve Resolution 2008-R-28; a Resolution for the submittal of an application to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for a $100,000 grant to construct a pocket park with fishing access to Walnut Creek along Zimmerly Road east of I-79, and that the Chair and Secretary be authorized to sign the same.  Chairman McGrath called for public comment on the matter; none was received.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

 

There being no citizens to be heard or further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Mr. Kujawa and seconded by Mr. Curtis to adjourn the meeting.  The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
