Low-impact aerobics utilizes aerobic movements in which at least one foot contacts the ground at all times.  Low-impact aerobics exercise is an activity that uses large muscle groups, can be maintained continuously for a long period of time and is rhythmic in nature.  Aerobic activity trains the heart, lungs and cardiovascular system to become stronger and more efficient.  To maximize the benefits of low-impact aerobics, emphasis is on the lower body movement and large movement of the whole body through space.

Class consists of:

  • 5 to 8 minutes warm-up
  • 35 to 40 minutes of continuous movement
  • 10 muscle conditioning (ex. sit-ups)
  • 5 to 8 minutes cool-down

Self Defense of "Tuite"   (top)

Taught by Joe Logue - Ages 14 and above

Tuite (pronounced "Twee-tay") teaches the student how to use muscle moving techniques to disbalance an attacker and redirect his aggression in order to make him weaker than you, not to attempt to overpower him.  The focus of the training is to simply preserve your life, not to be violent as your attacker in a street defense situation.  This is a non-forceful method.  It doesn't rely on physical strength of the defender, but instead upon the weaknesses of the attacker's body and the study of the movements which are the most physically efficient for the defender.

This ancient method is the oldest root of "Karate" and was kept secret, unknown to modern Karate.  For centuries it was passed down to certain aristocratic families through the hidden movements of the forms, it was almost lost until it came here to the United States.  Presently only a very small number of schools teach the original method.  Exclusively in the Erie area it is taught by black belt Joe Logue.  Globally, there are less than 50 teachers.

Tuite is able to be practiced by teenagers (14 and older) as well a senior citizens as it does not depend upon the hard hitting and bone breaking techniques as found in other martial arts.  Students will earn belt ranking periodically up to a black belt.  In class, loose clothing is recommended.  It is an ongoing class; one may join at any time.
