ORDINANCE NO. 75-10
An
Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 73-16 by expanding the width of fire lanes
from 15 feet to 35 feet.
WHEREAS, to promote and secure the safety of persons and property and to facilitate the fighting of fires and the evacuation of sick or injured persons in areas of vehicular or pedestrian congestion, the Board of Supervisors deem it necessary that certain areas be designated as FIRE LANES and/or FIRE DEPARTMENT ACCESS POINTS; wherein the parking or standing of motor vehicles is prohibited.
BE IT
ENACTED, by the Board of Supervisors of Millcreek Township,
SECTION 1. Paragraph (a) of Section 1 of Ordinance No. 73-16 is hereby deleted in its entirety and the following Paragraph (a) is to be known as Paragraph (a) and is to be added in place of the deleted section:
“(a) Fire Lanes: An area where indicated by official signs leading to or adjacent to a public building or place of business or assembly which must be kept open at all times in order for fire or other emergency equipment to operate effectively in case of fire or other emergency. Said area to be thirty-five (35) feet in width, extending outward from the sidewalk its entire length. Each fire lane shall be indicated by road markings and posted at convenient intervals.”
Section 2. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, inconsistent herewith, are hereby specifically repealed.
